Before your first day.
A few quick steps now will make your first day of school a lot smoother. You don't need to have everything figured out before day one — this checklist is here to help you get the basics in place. Take these one step at a time before classes begin, and check things off as you go.
The most important thing before your first day is a quiet, clutter-free space to minimize distractions. A dedicated workspace — a desk in the bedroom or the kitchen table, not the bed or couch — helps your student build a daily routine and feel prepared for learning.
Some items are the same for every ACCEL school. A few things vary — we'll let you know when to check with your specific school.
1. Get your Chromebook set up
If your school provides a Chromebook, make sure it's charged, connected to Wi-Fi, and logged in with your school-provided Google account.
Chromebook Help2. Log in to Canvas (myAMP)
Canvas is where you will find your classes, assignments, and grades. Try logging in before day one so you're not troubleshooting on the first morning. You may not see all of your course cards, these populate on your first day.
Canvas Guide3. Save the Technology Service Desk (TSD) contact
The TSD is your first call for any technology problem. Save these now so you have them when you need them.
4. Find out who your Success Coach contact is at school
Your student's Success Coach is the school staff member assigned to support your family. You'll receive an email from your Success Coach with your welcome information and school credentials — be sure to check your spam and junk folders if you can't locate it.
Find Your School5. Know when your Live Orientation is and prepare to attend
Check with your school. Your Live Orientation is where you'll meet your school team, learn how your online classes work, and get ready for day one with confidence. Be sure to check your schedule ahead of time and come prepared with your device, login information, and any questions you may have.
